EDC Las Vegas -Tickets

Today I would like to talk about tickets. That means how to get them and how not. Elayne went to her first EDCLV in 2015 with two girlfriends (and without me :(). The three of them made there travel plans a little bit late in the game. Tickets were still available. There also were many people selling tickets in Facebook ticket groups and Craigslist below face value. Having a friend who also sells tickets for cheaper we knew that there are several people that get tickets for free. With this in mind we decided to make a gamble and wait until closer to the event hoping to score a deal. With about 4 weeks left Elayne found a seller on Craigslist who said all he needed was her info to set up the tickets. She then would get a confirmation number and will be able to pick the tickets (wristbands) up at will call. All went well and the girls had a fantastic time.
The following year Elayne and I decided that we will go together. We found the same guy on Craigslist selling tickets. He remembered meeting Elayne to exchange money and tickets. Considering him trustworthy we paid him upfront because he said he needed some cash for plane tickets. Well, that did not work out. When we got to Las Vegas the day before EDC he did not tell us were to meet. As a matter of fact he changed his phone number (or had a friend pretend that it was not his number anymore) and never contacted us again. Luckily for us we were able to file a fraud case with my bank and got our money back. But that is not always possible. Bottom line is that you should not trust anyone when looking for third party tickets.
One fairly safe way is using PayPal. They have a buyer protection when you use the pay for "Goods & Services" option. There is about a 5% fee involved but paying that is by far better than loosing a big chunk of your hard saved festival money.
So please always be vary of those "to good to be true" offers and find a safe way to exchange money and tickets.
